Description of Issue

Controllers are multiple Android devices (Tab A, S5e, S7, S22) and a Windows desktop.

Hi, for at least 6 months (so long before Roon 2) but long after it had been stable for years, one of my Airplay endpoints has a mind of its own when it comes to volume - the Audio Pro A10. No issues with any other endpoint. I can’t reliably replicate it but periodically the volume will repeatedly drop to 1. I can watch it drop in real-time, and each time I increase it, it drops right back down again. Eventually I give up and come back to the house later and it seems to let me revert it. I’ve tried only having one controller active, tried disabling lock screen controls, rebooted ad nauseam but no dice. It has persisted across all Roon releases. The firmware on the device is current. I have factory reset the device. Anyone have any similar experiences or thoughts on how to debug further? The logs didn’t show much last time I looked, other than illustrating the call to decrease the volume.

@support - any thoughts on this? It continues to persist across Roon versions, and most recently with a new router (unrelated). The speaker is now basically unusable as, once it starts dropping to 1 on a session, it happens each time you increase the volume. Example from the logs tonight at 01/29 17:44:11 . Basically they seem to show a volume decrease being issued but I’ve no idea where from, why, or how to work this out?

Hey @dhusky,

Thanks for your patience while we continue to work through each thread. We’ve pinned down a similar issue where volume slowly increases uncontrollably, in which this issue may be related.

As a first test, can you please re-update your Core to the latest Production build (instead of early access) and let me know if you continue to experience this issue?

If you do, can you please share a timestamp of when the issue occurs? We’ll enable diagnostics on your account to see what might be going on from there :+1:

Hi @benjamin and thanks for getting back to me.

In the interim I’ve also been doing some troubleshooting with Audio Pro and it has been starting to look like a firmware/hardware issue. This morning I tried the acid test - shutting down Roon and playing locally on the speaker and found exactly the same issue. So, either I have some sort of bizarre and nefarious client on my network or, somewhat more likely, the speaker is broken :frowning: Regardless, it looks like it has nothing to do with Roon, so apologies for the distraction!
