I’m able to set a max volume level via OSX Roon client app (using device controls for volume) which works great via OSX, but when using Roon Remote on iOS iPad, it ignores and allows me to go from 0-100. Is this a known issue? Not seeing any threads related to this.

Hi @narkotic ---- Thank you for the post and sharing this observation you have made with us. The insight is appreciated!
Moving forward, may I kindly ask you to please verify that you are running the latest version of Roon on all of your devices (iPad included )?
-Eric
Verified (will do that going forward). Before creating this topic I checked first to ensure I was at latest.
Hi @narkotic ---- Thank you very much for touching base with me and verifying that information. Both are very appreciated!
Continuing forward, are you by chance using the the buttons on the side of the iPad to increase the volume on the device? If you are, I would recommend making use of the “slider” or the “+ and -” buttons in Roon to ensure that that any “comfort limits” that’ve been set are maintained as it is not possible to override “device limits”.

Hi:
- The buttons on the iPad itself do not control volume in Roon, only volume on the iPad itself.
- I only have a slider inside of Roon, no - / + buttons (which would be way better since the slider is very jumpy)
The OSX app has both a slider and - / + buttons. The slider adheres to the maximum DAC volume I set (at 37) and the buttons override it, as per documentation. The iPad just has a slider that adheres to no rules and goes from 0-100.
Hope that made sense.
I just launched Roon Remote on my iPhone X, and it seems to adhere to the rules AND have a - / + button. So this seems to only be w/ my iPad. It’s almost as if I’m running an old version of Roon on the iPad yet the app store doesn’t report any updates available?
@narkotic — If you go into “settings” and then “about” on the iPad, what build is it running?
-Eric
Wow, well that is embarrassing. I did some more homework and it appears my iPad isn’t running iOS 11 yet, which is why it was using an older version of Roon. I had the iPad sitting in a box for a few years.
Owe you a beer for wasting your time.
Thanks for checking that for me @narkotic, let me know how things go after updating!
-Eric
I was relying on the App Store to tell me if it was the latest version, forgetting the dummy-proof nature of iOS. It wasn’t until I looked at “Version History” in the app store to see a later version and then in the roon “About” section to see the difference. I figured it was some sort of glitch (stupid me) and deleted the app and it wasn’t until I tried to re-install where it said “this will download an older version unless you update to iOS 11”. Le Sigh. Apple thinks of everything.
