Thanks @benjamin ![]()
I’m happy to hear that your team is working together with Hegel to investigate this.
I’m looking forward to learning more about the specifics in the future.
There are several puzzling things about the miscommunication between streaming protocols:
=Why aren’t many other Hegel users experiencing this issue.
=What is meant by “Hegel’s streaming protocol” - I would think they use a built in RAAT protocol as they are a partner.
=Has anyone at Hegel suggested the possibility of a fault during installation of the amps firmware update - thus requiring use of the “Force update” feature to reinstall the firmware update.
Thank you so much for keeping me in the loop ![]()
Hi @stereoprofile,
Thank you for your continued patience, and for raising these follow-up questions.
We’ve passed your notes and questions along to our partners team. While we don’t have any new details to share at the moment, we’ll be sure to keep this thread updated with any developments as they become available.
We appreciate your cooperation as we work through this.
Thanks @daniel ![]()
No updates yet @stereoprofile - but I wanted to follow up and let you know we absolutely haven’t forgotten about your issue! Hoping we hear back from the partners team and Hegel soon. ![]()
@benjamin Many thanks to you and the team for the continued time and effort ![]()
Thanks in advance for your continued patience here, @stereoprofile ! We’ll let you know as soon as we have more details to share.
Thanks @noris
Just a post keep this support topic open.
Hi @stereoprofile ,
Just to keep you in the loop on this - we’ve been in communication with Hegel regarding this, but they have mentioned not having any reports of this issue on their end. They will try to allocate some time to try to reproduce the issue when it can be slotted in, though no specific timeline was provided. We will keep you updated as we have more info to share, thanks!
@noris thanks for keeping me in the loop ![]()
Hi @stereoprofile ,
Just wanted to update the thread again, still no news from Hegel’s end yet. I can’t comment on any timelines of when we expect to hear back, so I’ll go ahead and temporarily close this thread as there is no immediate actionable steps, and once they reply we will re-open it again and let you know their feedback. Thank you!
Hi @stereoprofile,
Thank you for your patience. Our team has reproduced the issue internally.
When adjusted from Roon, setting the volume to 29 is impossible - the volume logic defaults to either 28 or 30, depending on the original value before adjustment.
When adjusted from Hegel, it’s possible to set the volume to 29, but Roon will lose volume control until the Hegel presents a new volume value.
Our Partners team will work with Hegel to resolve what is possibly a logic error in the Hegel/RAAT integration. We’ll let you know the timeline to resolution once it’s available, but in the meantime, to avoid this behavior, try using headroom management to adjust the perceived loudness of “29” to a new value.
We’ll post as soon as we know more. Thank you!
@connor I’m impressed. I must admit I had doubts about hearing back from you.
I’m also amazed that you were able to reproduce the issue. It’s almost unthinkable that other Hegel-Roon users experienced it but didn’t report it. Perhaps the issue only applies to specific Hegel units or arise under unusual conditions involving firmware updates. It’s mystifying but you having reproduced the issue does give me some measure of comfort. Many thanks to you and the team for not giving up on this ![]()
Hi @stereoprofile,
You’re welcome! Sorry it took so long to get back to you. If anything changes before we get back to you with an update please let us know.
