Web display no longer updates

For me it happens when the web display is on the core.

Hello @James_I,

While we are still waiting for QA to review your case, I just wanted to make sure we have all the necessary info present. I have gone through the notes and am still missing some crucial information:

Please let me know the model/manufacturer of your Router and all applicable networking devices and post a screenshot of your Roon Settings -> Displays page so that I can attach it to your case.

Thanks,
Noris

Update - I was able to make this happen by changing the zone audio sync which presumably restarts some audio process.

After that the web display would not sync. It would update upon refresh but the progress bar never synced. Web display still shows as active from the volume’s display menu, and starting and stopping would refresh to a static image of the current status but then never synch.

Only a shut down and restart of the roon core helped.

All devices are in a wired network. That said the web displays are powered by the core so networking should be irrelevant.

Hello @James_I,

Thanks for letting me know about this behavior. A few other things would help us diagnose the issue better, can I please ask you to reproduce this issue in Chrome and then let us know the info from Google Chrome’s Developer Console? The way to access this info would be to:

  • Open a Google Chrome window on a Core Machine and point it to Roon’s Web Display URL
  • Do not start playback or try to display to that Web URL yet (as in have just the Roon Logo Visible)
  • Press Control + Shift + I on a windows machine to bring up a similar side-bar:

Chrome%20Console
Chrome Console.jpg1915x969 448 KB

  • Navigate to the “Console” section in both the top and bottom list, in the top it says (Elements, Console, Sources, Network, >>) and in the bottom it says (Console, Networking Conditions, What’s New)
  • Start playback to that Web Display and verify that the console updates with each track, there should be a set of actions that happen with each track change
  • After noticing the issue occur where the web display no longer updates, right-click on the console and press “Save As…” to save the output as a text file. Also note the exact local time in your country that it fails to display.
  • Verify that the text file actually contains content, you should have something like this saved to it:

  • Note the exact local time in your country (ex.7:34PM) that it occurs at
  • Upload that file to our server for analysis (I will PM you instructions shortly for this step).

Thanks,
