I copied a folder containing 5 mp3 music files, but only one of the files appeared to play in Roon.
I tried taking them out of the folder and adding them and I tried renaming them with the title at the start of the file name. The result is the same. I played the other files in VLC and they play fine. Can anyone shine a light on this problem?
Hi @Paul_Elliott,
First, I’d like to point out some documentation we have that may be helpful here. In our KB we have an article about Skipped Files and an article about why some files might be missing from Roon .
If you go to Settings > Library > Skipped Files do you see any of your missing files there?
I’d like to recommend looking at a couple of specific examples of tracks that did not get imported into Roon. Are they supported files? Are they showing up in Skipped Files? If it looks like they should be importing, let me know! Screenshots of these files in their storage location would be helpful for discovering what may be happening.
Hi Dylan,
Thanks for your reply about the issue of skipped files.
I looked and you are right, the the names of the skipped files are in the skipped files section of the library.
I tried some online resources to fix the corruption of the mp3 files, but when I used Amadeus pro by opening the errant files, saving them and copying them back to Roon it worked.
I don’t know why this is the case, but this solution works for me.
I’d be interested in knowing why this is.
Many thanks
Paul
Hi @Paul_Elliott,
Sometimes bad header data can cause Roon to see files as corrupt. Some other players ignore this data but Roon does not. Saving them in Amadeus probably re-generated the header files (this is similar to other solutions we’ve seen using dbPoweramp) and so Roon was able to import them properly.
I’m glad things are working for you now, though! Please feel free to reach out if you ever have any other questions or issues.
