I’m working hard to avoid AI slop wherever it seems to lurk. Much prefer human intelligence to machine intelligence. AI I think has a place as tool to help humans with certain types of tasks, I don’t think the arts/music is an area where the contribution is beneficial
I can’t tell if it’s AI, but in coffee shops and stores recently I hear endless cover versions of songs that seem unlike the usual musak. Covers of songs I know well and would have thought I would know about a version being released.
Whether or not that is the case (and I believe you are right) who the heck wants to listen to dreck composed of stolen bits of music arranged by AI. By definition it has no original ideas - that is what I was trying to address (ineffectively) in my comment.
I’m learning to play piano. For two years now. If people ask how it is going; terrible. But I still love it.
Started a new song this evening. Have a little faith in me from John Hiatt. I have three different versions. The complete studio-version sucks. But the other two versions with only piano are beautiful. One of those versions is a recording he made here in Holland for a tv show (called 2-meter sessions based on the height of the host of the show).
The subtility, detail and emotion in the piano of that version gives me goose bumps.
Can ai do that? No, I don’t think so. Maybe in the feature but I don’t expect it soon. Music in its purest form; the one that touches your emotions (happy, sad, whatever) is something ai is t capable of doing.
Can someone help me to understand AI music? How it’s made? The vocals somehow AI generated? How are instrumentals created? I have recently realized a form of AI music show up in my music feed & it was SO accurate to the style of music that I enjoy that it’s kind of scary. I started trying to research individual artists & was unable to find these musicians. I am concerned for this ability to create/curate a different reality tailored to each specific individual.
