I recently got a iFi Zen Signature, which is fed files via a USB 3.0 cable from a laptop, retrieving files directly off a SSD. The DAC then plugs directly into a Parasound amplifier, and I use Roon to control the volume, bypassing the need for a preamp. Best sound I’ve ever had out of my system.
QNAP NAS → Schiit Gungnir → Schiit Lyr 2
Roon on Linux-> Rupieee on RPi4->Gustard X16
Plays all formats listed for this model.
I have a NAD M10 too, it has replaced some great gear. Unfortunately it and my tannoys are in storage till I move into my new house. Been 4 months so far…
I spy Gumby
I enjoy listening to music mostly playing records, so
When I am serious:
Mostly listen through my Michell Gyro SE >
Lyric Ti140 Mk II or Pioneer Elite SC-09 TX or Pioneer Elite SC LX901
Pioneer Elite Speakers SP-EFS73, SP-EC73 and SW-E10 OR Sennheiser HD 820
When I am not serious and want to play casual:
Maxed out 2020 Mac mini > Roon Core > USB
RME ADI-2 Pro FS R or Sennheiser HDV 820 > XLR
Sennheiser HD 820 / Sennheiser IE 800 S
PC → Pi2AES → Schiit Yggdrasil
No HQPlayer, but planning to check it out if it’s worth soundqualitywise even without using upsampling.
And Pokey!
Audionote 1.1
Sabaj D5. Magic with Sennheiser HD650.
RME Babyface Pro
Oh no, tell me the door stop is not there for sonic qualities!!!
I confess-yes. John Darko suggestion for dampening.
I agree, have the same DAC and find it incredible.
Causing me a problem, because my analog playback can’t compare. So now upgrading analog to see if I can match it…
-
Main DAC/amp: Technics SU-G30;
-
Headphone DAC/amp (for my Aeon 2 Closed cans): iFi Nano iDSD Black Label;
-
Late 2012 Mac mini (running Catalina) as Roon core.
That’s a very positive and telling sign! Very good. I stopped using HQplayer, I just run Roon direct NOS. Sounds unbelievable. Guitars are incredible. Vocals are so natural. It’s a slam dunk DAC. I’ve got a Serene KTE Preamp on its way too.
