What is the latest concert you've been to? [2020-202*]

Billy Idol and Joan Jett in Roswell, GA May 9, 2025. We left early.

Joan Jett was better than Billy Idol. Glad she went on first.

Why? Was it bad performances?

Gillian Welch and Dave Rawlings at Carnegie Hall last week. Hadn’t seen them together for 10+ years but they’re as fun and affecting as ever. And I always enjoy it when seasoned musicians are awed by the venue’s grandeur and acoustics. “My mother is in the audience! Hi Mom!”

Great. I would love to see them live… but unfortunately their visit to Europe is limited to UK/Ireland.

I saw The Flaming Lips in Cologne yesterday. They played the entire album “Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots” and a few other songs. They had a very creative stage show with giant figures, lasers, balloons, confetti, and video. I really enjoyed it.

Onslaught’s debut album “Power From Hell” was released 40 years ago. To celebrate this anniversary the band is currently touring around Europe together with Cryptosis. Yesterday the guys played at Escape Metal Club in Vienna. Local support came from Ravenous and Darkfall.

The last days were quite hot in Vienna so the temperature in the club was totally insane. The place was packed and sold out.

Lead singer Dave Garnett was not able to tour due to personal reasons so Oscar Rilo from Dark Embrace took over vocal duties. He did an amazing job considering the fact that he had only three days to prepare before the tour started a week ago.

I saw Castle Rat yesterday at Arena, Vienna. (Local Support: Bum Shelter).

Honestly… I didn’t know what to expect from a band “led by the Rat Queen on a mission to expand and defend ‘The Realm’ from those who seek to destroy it”.

I turned out to be very entertaining… Medieval Fantasy Doom Metal from New York City :crossed_swords: :european_castle: :skull_and_crossbones: :metal:
