I saw Swans last night in Copenhagen. Amazing energy. Felt like I was at an ancient tribal ceremony. Audience nodding heads in unison to the repeated groove.

I recommend them highly. Still a couple of dates left on their European tour:guitar::cowboy_hat_face:and thanks to @Suedkiez for reminding me nearly a year ago👍

Glad you liked it! Only 9 days to what may be the last 2 Swans concerts ever (at least „big sound“ Swans) in Berlin. I have tickets for both nights, hoping my ears hold up

We saw Karnataka at Acapella studio outside Cardiff tonight. Great show by an excellent band. Plenty of 15 minute and longer songs and an excellent 2 and a half hour performance. Already looking forward to next year’s show

Took another zip trip to the Music City to catch Stephen Wilson, Jr.'s closing date for his Søn of Dad Tour at the Ryman Auditorium…

Duet with his wife, Leigh Nash, who cowrote the song Dungeons and Dragons off Stephen’s upcoming album…

Did not have the best seats in the house to get a good shot of the stage and band. Fortunately there were monitors where this picture was taken…

Closing number…

Got a twofor tonight with Empyre and The Raven Age playing Cardiff.
Absolutely fantastic show, with Empyre being a surprise act for me, although I have a couple of their albums in my library

The Raven Age were on great form and played a great set

Swans @ Festsaal Kreuzberg, Berlin, tonight 11/27. First evening.

3 hours of the essence of Rock, once again amazing. And this time they are having a very danceable phase again. It had been very danceable at times around The Seer, too, but then the rhythm developed from the pulsing noise. This time they did it the other way around and actually laid down some dance-ey bass lines and drums to tower harmonic overtone noise upon it.

Did they do this thing on your evening too for the second track when Dana Schechter switched to bass and Larry Mullins to his little drum set and they played 10 minutes of the heaviest funk to get the track going?

Looking forward to the second night tomorrow. It was quite emotional at the end tonight already when Kristof Hahn shed a few tears when saying goodbye.

Great to hear. And I can see you got close to the stage :+1:

Yes I think it was that way too at the Copenhagen show. It was one of my favorite moments of the evening when she picked up the bass and joined the other bassist and the drummer creating very funky rhythms. I don’t recall him switching to a small drum set so maybe there was some variation.

Good luck tonight with the second show. Very envious :slightly_smiling_face: But I’m greatful that I got to see them before it was too late.

Yesterday the switch to drums was by Larry (guy with the hat, in the back) who usually plays one of the pedal steels but he has also a snare and the bass drum on the stand behind him. The main drummer added to the funk as well, I think, but it mainly came from Dana’s bass and Larry on the small set. Incredible stuff.

Radiohead at the O2 in London on Monday night.

They were incredible as always. Just wish they hadn’t been away so long. Took my son for his 18th birthday and we had a blast!

OK, so Swans evening #2, Festsaal Kreuzberg, Berlin.

Really the last Swans concert, as we know now because Michael Gira confirmed it on stage. Though he did leave the door open for some things because he said it’s the last time Swans would be playing live in this form. And of course it’s not the first time he announced the end of Swans. (@TreeZorro)

They had already confirmed previously that the expected live album of this tour would happen and be released in 2026. Get it (like all the others). I just hope they documented the tour on video, too, but I believe so because there was someone with a video camera. (They did a video for the previous‘s tour‘s live album as well).

Not many photos because he was being even more serious this time about no phones while they were playing. (And finally nobody disrespected).

Before:

Goodbyes:

They took it a bit easier this time than usually: When someone in the band didn’t get Gira‘s direction immediately - as always tends to be the case occasionally -, they were being less tense than usual and had a laugh about it. Gira even gave up once and waved it off with a laugh. Was fun to see.

Another fun thing was that next to me was a guy who had never heard of Swans but was in attendance only for Larry Mullins, who is a prolific musician in his own right, but that’s very different stuff and doesn’t prepare you for Swans - nothing does. This guy was in for bit of a stunning treat, haha.

(Larry has played with the likes of Anna Calvi, Nick Cave, Iggy Pop, scored films for Johnny Depp, etc.: Larry Mullins (musician) - Wikipedia)

Yesterday I had the chance to see David Reece, Alcatrazz and Girlschool at Escape Metalcorner, Vienna.

David Reece warmed things up perfectly and performed some songs of Accept’s '89 “Eat The Heat” album and some Bangalore Choir songs as well.

Next up was Alcatrazz. To be honest I didn’t really know the band before I bought my ticket. The American hard-rock band was founded back in '83. Jimmy Waldo (Keyboards) was the only founding membger on stage. Vocal duties are currently handled by Giles Lavery. Guitarist Joe Stump added some over the top rock star attitude to the performance. Solid set with a lot of die hard fans in the audience.

At 10pm Girlschool hit the stage. I was looking forward finally seeing the band live and they did not disappoint. They played a great set focusing on their older songs. The crowd was on fire… everyone was dancing, singing, screaming… what an evening.
