who was singing?
Erik Gronwall. Never heard about him, but someone told me he used to sing with Skid Row. I felt like his vocal style was not well suited for some of the songs, but overall I think he did a good job. Fun gig.

RD Liapakis was the singer not Erik Gronwall. Erik was the singer on the European tour.
Sorry….not very familiar with these guys (except Michael and UFO).

Death tribute band Left To Die are on the road in Europe again and played at Viper Room, Vienna yesterday. The place was quite packed for a sunday evening and the crowd was cool.

Always a fun band live.
Steven Wilson - The Overview Tour, September 20 at the MGM Northfield (a casino) outside of Cleveland, Ohio. The venue was meh, but the show was phenomenal. We got some of the less frequently played songs on the tour and 2 songs they had not yet played in North America. Phenomenal visuals to go along with the great music. And a bonus Nick D’Virgilio sighting! He was sitting a fews rows up from me over to the right, enjoying the show just like the rest of us normies. No good photos, only the bare minimum to prove I was there - the audience was generally respectful of Steven’s request for no photographs or recording. The memories will have to do!

Two in a row from me, it’s a good week! Just got back from David Byrne - Who is The Sky? at The fabulous Landmark Theater in Syracuse, NY. Fantastic, all of it. If you’re on the fence on this one, trust me - it’s a great show. He was in great voice, he has some wonderful players and dancers with him, and the lights and visuals were amazing. I won’t spoil the setlist. All I’ll say is if you are a fan of his solo work, The Talking Heads, or just like good music performed by a good human, you would enjoy this! Another show where photos and videos were discouraged, but I snuck a couple.

Tuesday 09/09/25 with my sister, followed by Dead Poet’s Society (!) opening for Chevelle the next night at Riverbend Pavillion with my nephew. Great trip home!

Yesterday I attended the Vienna Metal Meeting 2025. The yearly festival started back in 2017 and takes place at Arena, Vienna. The bands are playing both indoor and outdoor.
Things started indoor at 3pm with swiss black metal act Vígljós
After that I met with friends outdoor and saw Austrian black metal band Heidnir
French band Houle broke down with their nightliner on the way from Italy so they didn’t show up. So we stayed outside to catch German thrashers Warfield. Great set and my first highlight of the festival.
We skipped Firtan indoor and instead got ourselves a good spot front of stage to welcome the mighy Hypocrisy. The crowd was on fire and the band delivered an awesome set.
Next up on the outdoor stage were W.A.S.P. peforming their first album almost in its entirety followed by some medleys and other classics. I never saw the band live and it was simply amazing. Unfortunately it started to rain around 8pm in the middle of the set.
I went back indoor to catch the second half of the set of Thyrfing
After the band left the stage I went outside and heard the last few songs of Opeth.
The weather was really bad at this point so I decided to leave the festival a bit earlier than planned.

Yesterday The Obsessed played at Arena (Dreiraum), Vienna as part of their current “The Church Within European Tour”. The band was supported by Psychlona (UK).
Psychlona played a good set. Unfortunately the sound was not very good at the beginning (at least where I was standing).
The Obsessed was really fantastic. Sound was good and the crowd finally started to get going.
