Great to hear that JT is still on the road
The only time I saw Ian was back in 2013 on the “Ian Anderson Plays ‘Thick as a Brick’” tour. On this tour he had vocal support from Ryan O’Donnell who took over the high notes. This worked like a charm as far as I can remember.
A nice local gig for me - Joshua Redman at the Cheltenham Jazz Festival on 2nd May. I’m a member which generally means decent seats if you’re quick for anything worth watching. Jazz is still pretty mysterious to me but I love watching talented musicians getting in the zone - his band are quite young but have been playing together for a while. Highlight for me was a cover of Stardust - sublime.
I first saw Tull in 1970 in Montreal where they blew the (non existent) doors out and left the audience wondering “Who are those guys”. They went on to visit the city 19 more times. Brilliant!
I got to see PIL when they were touring the album 9 in 1989, they were opening for New Order with the Sugarcubes. Here was the line up, great show,

What a lineup!

No Voodoo Jürgens & die Ansa Panier (I’m so digging this band name) for me yesterday. Instead I went out to see three Austrian Heavy Metal bands at Viper Room, Vienna. The venue was sold out. I never saw any of the band live before.
Küenring kicked things off with their blend of hard-rock and heavy metal.
Titan Killer were up next. Great set with a lot of energy. Unfortunately the vocals have been been buried in the mix.
After a short break and a soundcheck it was mustache time. Venator are hailing from Linz and were headlining the night. The gig was fantastic and their attitude combined with their retro style of heavy metal set the club on fire.
Animals As Leaders and the SatchVai Band at The Landmark Theater in Syracuse, NY last night. Sorry to let you all know that the world’s supply of notes has been used up, there are no more left.
I think I’ll be listening to piano or saxophone for the rest of the week, I’m all done with guitar for a while after that one!
Iron Maiden started their Run For Your Lives World Tour 2026 one week ago in Athens. Last saturday they played in Bratislava. Together with a few friends I enjoyed a two day stay with perfect weather and very affordable beer ![]()
We arrived around 6pm and had no problems getting into the front of stage area which was a huge improvement compared to last years gig in Vienna.
Anthrax was opening the night. They played a classics set with songs from their early albums as well as their latest single “It’s For The Kids” from their upcoming album. Very nice set and a great way to start the evening.
Iron Maiden started their show at 8:55pm. It was basically the same set like last year. They only removed “The Clairvoyant” and replaced it with “Infinite Dreams” which was really great. We had almost perfect weather with only a few drops of rain. The crowd was great and everyone was had a good time. It was great to see those legends again and I enjoyed the show very much. The sound was way better than in Vienna and the amazing visuals have been much more immersive.
