What we are listening to [2018]

Mahler Symphony No. 1 (CBSO, Simon Rattle)

Recorded live at the Symphony Hall, Birmingham (UK). I have many happy memories of the CBSO playing Mahler at this superb venue in the early '90s.

I guess that’s the 8.5 hour version, not the edited 1 hout version?

I have both versions. The one I’m talking about is in fact the one with 8:24:07 hours of playing time. The album title of the unabridged version is “Sleep”, the short one is titeled “From Sleep” :slightly_smiling_face:

True. Fascinating in both incarnations, although I too prefer the “extended version” (however I rarely finish it )

I listened to it once in one sitting, with lots of wine, a few friends and little sleep.

I’ve fallen asleep to it quite successfully for about three weeks, shortly after it became available for download.

Was supposed to experience it live in Antwerp last september, but life got in the way. No sleep for me.

Reminds me of this. The first few notes sound very much like Sleep (Einaudi was first  )
