As far as Rolling Stones compilations go, my favorite is the deluxe version of GRRR! but sadly it is not on either Tidal or Qobuz. Luckily this one is available and is a pretty good place to pick up a Stones habit:
Start at the start -
I have no Vinyl. The early works are my favorite. You will find it sure on Qobuz or Tidal.
āSticky Fingersā, especially Moonlight Mile and Sister Morphine.
You could always start by watching them live!
Theyāre doing a 60th anniversary tour of Europe this summer.
I tried that in the 90s. I was about a mile away (exaggerated) from the stage and a portable Bluetooth speaker would have sounded better. It was the last stadium sit down concert I attended outside of dates or mates nights out.
I think that with great success, the art, the artist and the audience quickly come under the financial wheels of the music industry. The work and its (concert) presentation suffer from it!
Great suggestion! However the 2022 version of the Stones would pale in comparison to the younger version. I had the good fortune to see the Stones at this 3000 seat theatre back in 1978. One of the very best concerts I every saw and Iāve been to a lot of concerts. And this bootleg confirms my high regard for this great show by worldās greatest rock and roll band!

Yes the 60/70s I would call the rise of the stones and the 80/90s the descent (rolling stones).
Dillion Stadium, Hartford, CT.,1969. (Jagger was a 26 y.o.)
In spite of the name Dillion Stadium was no arena, more like a high school field. Home field of the Hartford Patriots football team before they moved on to Foxboro.
So how old does that make you?
Ha, no secret that Iāll be 72 next time around the Sun and Iāve got the scars to prove it.
Hope Mick survives the 60th Anniversary Tour. Richards probably will.
As for myself, every day above ground is a good day.
Stay healthy! Itās no secret that Keith Richards will outlive all of us since heās chemically preserved.
Absolutely no traces of drugs and alcohol, but he should stop smoking. Nicotine kills!
even with permanent interior cleaning
Let It Bleed is more dense with hits that deserved to be hits than any other rock and roll album.
Gimme Shelter is many peopleās choice for Best Rock Song of All Time, and itās certainly worthy of consideration. But then thereās Monkey Man, Midnight Rambler, Country Honk, Canāt Always Get What You Want, and Love in Vain. And the song that nobody knows aboutāYouāve Got the Silverāis brilliant, too.
I wouldnāt just recommend Let It Bleed as the preferred entree to the Stonesā oeuvre; I would say itās the first rock album one should buy.
Every song on Sticky Fingers deserved to be hitsā¦āCanāt You Hear Me Knockingā is just fantastic and itās not even in the top 4 songs on the album!
ā¦and the riff at the beginning of āCanāt You Hear Me Knockingā is killer.
The Stones did many memorable albums, but for me Sticky Fingers was (like Darkside of theā¦) an album that one can listen in its entirety and enjoy. I believe that some of this is due to where we/they (yearā¦the world) when it was being written. I wonder what they would have been if Keith Richards was still alive. (Waitā¦he is? Had no idea: āThe Rolling Stones live and Keith Richardsā)
I like Keith Richards solo stuff as well.
And I recommend reading his biography. Thatās what really got me into listening to the stones.
I would read the book and start listening to the albumās that he mentions.
Beggars banquet is one of my favourites. And usually Iām not much into live recordings but I really like the stones live concerts.
Given youāre UK based, the glut of iPlayer coverage to mark 60 years of TRS is currently a great source of documentaries and live performances.
