Which DAC am I hearing? The one in Apple TV or in Cambridge 100

Hi everyone, this is my first post. Weird topic, but let me explain and I’ll keep it short.

I have an Apple TV running HDMI to my TV. I take the audio TOSlink out of the TV into a Cambridge Audio magic 100 DAC and that goes analog L + R into my receiver.

Does that mean I am hearing the Cambridge audio DAC or is it just using the Apple TVs DAC and passing the Audio?

I hope that makes sense… what I want is the C audio 100 of course.

Hi,

TOSlink is a digital connection, thus the only DAC in the signal path is the Cambridge.

TO utilise the Apple TV DAC you would have to be using the analogue outputs from the ATV.
