Which option should I use for my Core?

I currently have my Core running on a QNAP TS-653A NAS with Celeron N3150 1.6Ghz CPU and 4Gb memory. Roon is running on an SSD. My media files are also stored on this NAS.

My main endpoint/output is a Microsoft Surface Pro 3 i5 CPU with 8Gb RAM.

The QNAP is mostly fine, though there is some occasional lag.

Any advice on whether I should move my Core to the Surface Pro?

Pros for the Surface are obviously better performance. Cons are that Core and Output are on the same device.

Worth the tradeoff to get better performance, or better to keep Core isolated on its own device?

Thanks!

Try it … create a second core on the Surface Pro and disconnect the other. Then restore your last database backup, disable the original storage path and then add the NAS share. Once the music is scanned you’re ready to go.
