No it’s a bespoke made solid walnut plateau that measures 55 x 45 x 4cm. It also features cutouts underneath for Isoacoustic dampening feet.
My latest turntable setup thrown together with mostly pieces I had laying around, definitely a case of the sum exceeds the parts here.
Yamaha TT cost $115 on eBay untested as stylus was broken, fortunately all functions work perfectly.
Shelter 201 cartridge I bought about 3 years ago on eBay for $170.
Audioengine powered speakers from eBay, B stock for $135.
Only thing I did not have was a Phonostage, so…yes eBay again for the Graham Slee Communicator for $64!.
MM only and a fixed gain of 38.5db but the 201 has a healthy output so no problem.
Yes it actually sounds way better than I expected.
Oh and the Google Chromecast puck enables the Roon side of this bedroom rig just fine.
Mighty pleased with the results.
What are you doing with the plastic boxes top right on the table? ![]()
Fancy beer mats! ![]()
Gruss Daniel
New Year, New Toy!
Project to play with that was so silly cheep I just had to get it.
Nottingham Analogue Hyperspace table cw Benz Micro Ruby 3 cartridge.
Platter spins extremely freely, motor spins with a hand push just like all Notts tables, tonearm pivot bearing seems to be very free. Hard to tell on the stylus, I need a better loupe (or eyes!) but it looks like it might have some life left in it.
Missing drive belt and the original base.
The Notts “experts” all say spend up for the genuine Notts drive belt but anything just about will work as a base as original was only particle board. Apparently, a slab of countertop type granite or Corinthian is popular!
Hopefully be able to set up and test in a couple weeks.
And things are looking really good.
Cleaned out all the old oil from the bearing housing, added some correct spec oil and slid the heavyweight platter back on and let it settle.
Then spun it by hand where at first I thought I had finally cracked perpetual motion
.
Very very smooth.
Then I found my better loupe and indeed not only a diamond present but extremely nice looking.
So it was worthwhile to at least mount and try it on another table.
Both channels clear and crisp and even though not set up it sounded excellent.
All I am going to say is the cartridge alone is worth around three times what I paid for the complete shooting match.
A base and drive belt are ordered and on their way so just a waiting game for now but I am pretty excited ![]()
I have two sources.
My first source is a Pink Triangle Anniversary turntable, with an Audio Origami modified Rega RB300 arm and a Dynavector 10x5 mounted on a Funk Firm Houdini.
My second one is a Roon Nucleus One, Topping D90LE DSD DAC.
The first had a slight edge over the second one. There isn’t a lot in it, apart from a massive soundstage!
Not trying to be sarcastic honest , but with so many variants how do you decide what to wire up at any time
I have 3 pairs of headphones and I have to lock 2 away so I don’t incessantly keep swapping. I try and do a week rotation but it never works.
And that’s a simple 6.3 mm plug swap how does it work with turntables here must be some set up involved in a swap
Multiple systems…i don’t swap tables inside of systems unless it is a permanent change!
That’s stunning.![]()
Wish I could get my setup to look that nice and neat.
I will just have to be content with it sounding good ![]()
