Why 88.2 Sample Rate

Hi

I have converted an SACD ISO to both DSF 64 and 256 to see what the difference is .

As I play them Roon converts them to a lower sample rate than the max supported by my DAC.

My Audiolab M-DAC supports 96 via USB but Roon chooses 88.2 in both cases .

Why ?

DSD 64 has a sample rate of 2.8224MHz, which is 64 x 44.1kHz (or 32 x 88.2kHz). Roon will use a full integer lower (or higher) sample rate so it’s not trying to interpolate.

Obviously DSD 256 has a sample rate of four times DSD 64 but ultimately the standard common factor of 44.1kHz still prevails.
