Why can't I output in DSD512?

I am using Holo Cyan2 as my DAC. Thanks a lot

I moved your question to the HQPlayer section since it is an HQPlayer setup issue.

Try DoP to test if direct dsd is the issue

What’s your cpu? And how much ram?
You’ve checked CUDA offload … but no GPU is selected
… and try setting e-cores to filters if your cpu is Intel with p-cores and e-cores

Hello, my laptop CPU is AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX with 32 GB RAM.
The display card is RTX3080, thanks.

After setting this still PCM XD.

After I set DOP, my music even can’t be played through Roon XD.

I have found my error message is this

I found I can perfectly run on Wasapi mode, but cant in ASIO.
Is there a great difference between two modes?

Yes, use asio. On output page

Try in following order

  1. make sure 48k is checked.
  2. Try checking adaptive, it is now grey not Checked.

You likely have the DAC enabled in Roon Settings / Audio. With Thesycon drivers having more than one application accessing the ASIO driver will disable DSD support.

This is a bug in the Thesycon driver, as ASIO is supposed to exclusive access.

But in any case, 90% of similar issues happen because the DAC is left enabled in Roon… I’m pretty certain it is the case here too.

It is also good idea to check that the DAC is not set as the OS default audio output device…

Thanks for your support. Actually I disable all the dac in roon setting.

But how can I check the dac is not set as the os default audio output device? Thanks

Windows Control Panel → Sound. There on the first tab when you open it up there’s default output device selection.

Another possibility is that Windows update has broken the ASIO driver. This happens sometimes. Reinstalling the driver fixes that.

Thanks, I have already set my default output device is not my dac. Also, I have reinstalled my dac driver.
By its still show the following picture XD in HQPlayer XD.

Please also check the “48k DSD” from Output tab, in addition to 48k x256 SDM output rate limit.

If you close Roon and any other applications potentially using audio, and try to play with standalone HQPlayer, do you still get this same error?

And your Windows is stock unmodified installation? Or have you used any “optimization” tools to modify the OS. Because this looks like the ASIO driver is still somehow functionally broken.
