I am an early adopter of Roon, but have not been using it of late because Roon has not added the ability to use cross talk cancellation stand alones or plugins like Ubacch or X-talk shaper. This would greatly enhance Roon’s sound quality. Without this feature, I have turned to Audirvana Studio instead.
Over the years, a number of Roon users have repeatedly requested this feature, but Roon has either ignored this request, discovered that it is impossible, or is currently working on it. Whatever the reason, Roon has not communicated with users to let us know why these requests have not been acted on.
I realize that Mitch Barnett has proposed a work around but for some reason, I can’t get my mini-PC to recognize any of the virtual cable programs that are necessary.
would someone at Roon kindly tell us which of the above reasons is correct:
are they working on it or are they not? If not, why not?
have they determined it is impossible for Roon to add?
have they decided it is too expensive for them to add?
I guess most ROON users just use the software and listen to music and do not engage in the forums. Those who engage in the forums mostly are looking for technical help. And those who are willing to read through different threads perhaps do not find the feature suggestions segment. And those who still do, are probably audiophile purists avoiding DSP shenanigans.
So there are really many filters until someone is clicking on “up vote” a suggestion adding stuff to MUSE.
Of course there is a certain sample of users on the forum, but nevertheless it is significant that there are feature suggestions that get more than a thousand votes, compared to others that get 10.
Anyway, Roon doesn’t slavishly go by number of votes, and the Feedback > Feature Suggestions aren’t their only source of customer wishes, but I wanted to 1) point out that adding your vote won’t hurt, 2) to caution against high hopes, and 3) to mention that nobody can or will answer your questions
The number of votes is, I suspect, due to the fact that very few Roon users have had the opportunity to hear the difference it can make. If Roon added the capability, many more users would try it out and discover how beneficial it is.
What a wild assumption. There’s as broad a selection of users here as on any music site. Just because others aren’t interested in your hobby horse doesn’t mean they aren’t exposed.
In the past Roon said they weren’t interested in adding plug in capability. And, unless they wrote muse as a plug in itself, it would probably need a core rewrite.
