Have wondered this for a while.
I can understand if it is an old album maybe, but new releases can sometimes have 5 or 6 versions.

Confusing number of versions, split multi-part compositions and drowning in an ocean of identical recordings per composition were (among other things) important reasons why I moved away from Tidal.
In Qobuz there are 4 versions of that album of which 2 are in 16Bit, 2 in 24Bit as well options with either containing or not containing explicit lyrics. Four is also confusing but at least Qobuz is showing a reason for that.
Maybe that is the case with the Tidal versions as well?
Well in Tidal there are 4 versions in 24bit and 1 in 16 bit, thats why I am askin really.
They all have the same track listings etc
That sort of helps thanks
Still for the album I have highlighted though
6 versions
2 are 16 bit and one explicit and one not
4 are 24 bit , 2 explicit and 2 not. Same track listing , so why the duplication ?
I don’t know why, but it doesn’t matter to me. I always choose the highest resolution, explicit version from both Tidal and Qobuz. The only decision I have to make is do I want the original with less tracks or one with more tracks.
I hear you , but some are identical
Was looking for an explanation as it has intrigued me for a little while
It’s possible that they are genuine duplicates. It’s also possible that we are being passed versions in the metadata which contain a video track at the end which has been stripped; so they look identical.
This has been lost in the sea of “Feature Suggestions”, but just linking to it here, as I feel it is at least partly relevant to the discussion:
