Description of Issue

My iMac (is old) and will only update to build 1.8. My Room Nucleus is build 2.0. I get a mismatch and an error when I try to “link” to the two. Is there a way to make this work?

No. Some people here have found ways to install Roon 2.0 on older MACs.

To be clear, some have managed to update macOS to a newer version (10.15 or newer), using third party tools, so they can install Roon 2.0.

Search the forum for “OpenCore Legacy Patcher”.

Hi @Matt_Jury,

Thank you for reporting this to us and for your patience in awaiting a response.

As others have mentioned, Roon does require the same version (1.8 Legacy or 2.0) on all devices to function. The Mac you have is just short of the requirements for Roon 2.0. There are tweaks you can implement to get it running Mac OS 10.15 and some of the users should be able to help you with this.

Otherwise, downgrading your devices to 1.8 legacy and installing 1.8 Legacy on your Mac is how you get things back up and running.

This page includes everything you need from 2.0 to 1.8 Legacy installers.

Regards,
Wes
