I am experiencing a recurring and now persistent issue with Roon 2.71 (Build 1683) on Windows 11.
Roon worked normally on this PC for several months. I installed it in March 2026 and the problem only started appearing approximately one month ago. Initially, Roon would occasionally fail to start, while at other times a Windows restart would allow it to launch. The problem has now become persistent and Roon will no longer start.
I have investigated the issue extensively and Windows Event Viewer provides clear evidence that Windows Smart App Control / Code Integrity is blocking Roon components.
The relevant errors are:
• CodeIntegrity – Event ID 3077: Roon.exe attempts to load Roon.Storage.Core.dll, but the file violates a Code Integrity policy.
• CodeIntegrity – Event ID 3033: Roon.Storage.Core.dll “did not meet the Enterprise signing level requirements.”
• .NET Runtime – Event ID 1026: System.IO.FileLoadException while loading Roon.Storage.Core.dll.
• Error code: 0x800711C7 – “An Application Control policy has blocked this file.”
• This is followed by Application Error – Event ID 1000, after which Roon.exe terminates.
Windows Security also previously displayed a similar warning concerning RAATServer.dll.
I understand that Roon is already aware of compatibility issues involving Windows 11 Smart App Control and that disabling Smart App Control has been suggested as a workaround.
However, I do not consider permanently disabling a Windows security feature to be an acceptable solution, particularly since Smart App Control cannot normally be simply re-enabled afterwards.
Roon is a premium subscription product, and I do not think it is reasonable that a paying subscriber should be unable to use the service unless they permanently disable an operating-system security feature. I particularly value Roon and its music discovery, artist/album information and audio playback capabilities, which is precisely why I continue to pay for the subscription.
Could you please confirm:
1. Whether this specific Roon.Storage.Core.dll signing / Smart App Control issue is currently being addressed.
2. Whether there is a newer production or Early Access build in which the affected DLLs are correctly signed/compatible with Windows Smart App Control.
3. Whether a fix is planned for an upcoming Roon release.
4. Whether there is any supported workaround that does not require disabling Windows Smart App Control.
5. How I should manually update Roon to the corrected build if the current installation cannot launch to perform its normal automatic update.
I can provide screenshots from Windows Event Viewer showing Events 3077, 3033, 1026 and 1000, as well as the Windows Security warning regarding RAATServer.dll.
Thank you. I would appreciate a technical response rather than simply a recommendation to disable Smart App Control, as the Event Viewer logs clearly identify the affected Roon components.
