Describe the issue

So the Roon Server starts totally fine(running on my PC; Windows 11 ver 23H2 build 22631.4602, Roon Server is on Build 2.0 build 1483), and I can control it with the Roon App on my Android phone with no issues. But I can only get the Windows app on the PC that has the Roon Server to start maybe 1 out of every 10 times I boot the PC; most of the time when I attempt to open Roon it doesn't do anything. I don't get an error message, it just... doesn't open. It does stop the audio playback if i've started it up from my phone, but doesn't do anything beyond that. I've tried downloading and reinstalling Roon and it doesn't make a difference. It's weird though because maybe every 10th time or so I boot the computer it seems to open just fine? I'm not using any of the 'linked' services like Tidal and whatnot.

In the Task Manager it shows 3 processes after I attempt to open Roon: 'Roon' (using 25megs of memory and 0 disk), 'RoonAppliance' (using 1,795megs of memory and alternating between 0 and 0.1 disk), and 'RoonServer' (using 17megs of memory and 0 disk)

Describe your network setup

TPLINK AX3000 (but the networking part works fine in this case, it's local playback that's the problem)

Hi @Stevan_Brasel ,

Thanks for reaching out with your report. I would be curious to know what logs say when this issue happens, I’ve activated diagnostics mode for your account, can you please let us know the exact local time + date when you have the next failure and then the date + time when Roon opens properly following that? We’ll review logging after to see if there are further clues, thanks!

Does the opposite order work as well? Just now when I first booted up my PC at 9:30PM EST 12/11 the player loaded fine. Closed the player. Just tried again at 9:41PM EST 12/11 and… nothing. Repeated attempts now all fail.

Hey @Stevan_Brasel,

Thanks for the report!

It does not, unfortunately! Could you please use the directions found here and send over a set of logs to our File Uploader?

Let’s also see if a fresh Roon database may help (not Roon Server!):

  • Create a Backup of your current database
  • Exit out of Roon
  • Navigate to your Roon Database Location
  • Find the folder that says “Roon”
  • Rename the “Roon” folder to “Roon_old”
  • Reinstall the Roon App from our Downloads Page to generate a new Roon folder
  • Verify if the issue persists on a fresh database before restoring the backup

We’ll be on standby for your reply! :+1:
