Describe the issue

Windows clients unable to fully connect to Roon Server running on a Windows PC. Android and Apple devices can connect and work fine. I have rebooted entire network, done a full clean install of the client on the affected machines, checked firewall (and even temporarily disabled) Windows Defender firewall but still no connectivity. The client software initially takes a full 2 minutes to 'see' the server, puts its name in the connecting screen, and is then stuck 'connecting' in what seems an endless loop.
The server is connected via a 1Ghz network connection, the clients are all on a wireless connection which is the same network as the android devices use. The endpoints are mostly Raspberry Pi with hats and are working fine with android.
The wifi is an eero wifi 6 network only a few months old. I have rebooted this and also the other network appliances such as the network switch but no luck.
Looking in the Roon logs on the client machine, I can see a connection loop happening - the client is able to see my server (called 'Jellyserver', but never fully connects and eventually moves to a 'disposed' condition:

Hello @Owen_Gwilliam ,

Thanks for reaching out, and welcome to the forum! The most typical issue around connections on Windows is the private/public network setting on the affected devices.

You would need to specify a Private network across the machines. Please see this guide for more information, and let us know if this helps resolve the issue!

Hi, thanks for the swift reply. Confirmed that both server and client are on a Windows private network, also confirmed that disabling firewall on either or both machines makes no difference to connection. This connection was working until approximately 2 months ago.

Hey @Owen_Gwilliam,

Thanks for giving that a try! It could also be the case that your server and remotes are running on different local subnets within your local network.

Could you review your router settings > devices list and confirm all your Roon devices are on the same subnet? Here’s more info on this:

Let me know if this helps! :raising_hands:

Hi, thankyou for your help with this - it was indeed my Eero router handing out ip addresses in the incorrect subnet. I’ve just reconfigured it and reset my ip and can confirm that this is now working properly and I can connect to Roon again. This is excellent, thankyou. Feel free to close the ticket.

Good day @Owen_Gwilliam !

Thanks for confirming!

Have a nice evening!

Regards.
