WLAN Problems with RPi 4B

Hello,

I have two RPi 4B 4G running the latest RoPieee. Both connect to the internal network via the internal Wi-Fi adapter. One 4B controls a USB DAC, the other has a Hifiberry Digi2 Pro HAT.

With both, I have problems with Wi-Fi disconnections, sometimes very often, sometimes reasonably tolerable, but never stable.

I tried to run the 4B with the HAT using DietPi. I encountered the same problems with that too.

I operated the 4B with the USB DAC and a Realtek USB WLAN adapter with RoPieee. The adapter was recognized immediately and the system ran right away. The WLAN disconnections were significantly fewer, but unfortunately still present.

Both RPis are located in close proximity to a Wi-Fi repeater and the transmission rate is excellent.

Does anyone have any ideas about what else can be done to achieve stable audio transmission without interruptions?

I know that I can achieve this with an Ethernet connection, but unfortunately I can’t use that without drilling holes in the wall, and I want to avoid that!

Thank you very much

Ralph

Hi Ralp,
I am not a big fan of it, but you can always try powerline-adaptors. It is not as good as an ethernet cable from switch to the RPI, but it can be better than a dodgy WiFi signal.
Good luck with it, Frank.

Hello Frank,

Thank you for your reply.

You’re right, powerline adapters would be an alternative. However, I’ve had very negative experiences with them when using DSL for internet access. The frequency spectrums are very similar, and I’ve repeatedly experienced proven DSL disconnections. That’s why I switched to Wi-Fi.

Best regards

Ralph

If you have coaxial cable you might try MoCA adapters.
