Description of Issue

I’ve purchased hardware based on https://help.roonlabs.com/portal/en/kb/articles/roon-optimized-core-kit#So_what_is_Roon_Optimized_Core_Kit_ROCK_then

Installed ok. I can access the ROCK via the web interface.

After a new install, I can see it on my PC. The build of the ROCK is 1143, and it wants to be updated. It allows me to update it to Build 1259.

However, after I restore my backup, it no longer works. It just hangs on “Connecting…”

I’ve tried creating a new backup to ensure that the backup is compliant with the current software build, but no luck.

What next?

Hi, @Steven_Rau,
Did you update ROCK, via its web admin interface and then verify that Roon is now running on 1259?
Click on reinstall RoonOS, this will make sure the device is fully updated.

Note, this should really be done before attempting to restore your DB.

No, I updated through the app. I’ll try now to update through the web interface.

Well, I don’t see any specific way to update the software from the web interface. I just did “reinstall.” Now… ok, still doesn’t work after restoring backup. Just hangs and says:

Roon Optimized Core Kit
RoonOS 1.0 (build 256) production/192.168.1.159, Version 2.0 (build 1259) production
[red dot] Connecting…

Well, I tried again today, and it worked. Not sure if it was due to a software build update or what – but it does seem to be working now.
