I am looking to buy Yamaha A-U671 amplifier, because it checks all the boxes for me. And I was planning to use it with Raspberry Pi. However, it looks like if you connect this amp to a regular PC, Yamaha HiFi USB Driver has to be installed in order to work properly. Mac OS doesn’t have this issue. So I was wondering, if Roon Bridge will aslo work with amplifier’s DAC without any hassle or addons!? Yamaha A-U671 uses SABRE 32 (ES9010K2M) chip.
Drivers are required for Windows but are not needed for Linux. However, unless Yamaha specifically say their USB is Linux friendly then you are taking a (small) chance.
