Hi @Phanindranath_Nandan,

Thank you for your post.

We’ll need to inspect diagnostic logs from the Roon/RAATServer instance in order to pinpoint the cause of the error. However, the machine hasn’t so far successfully uploaded logs in response to our automatic requests.

At your convenience, please use these directions to locate the RoonServer/Logs folder, compress (zip) it, and upload it here.

We’ll watch for your reply. Thank you!

Hi Connor,

Thank you for your response.

I have now zipped and uploaded both the RoonServer and RAATServer log folders using the upload link you provided.

Please let me know if you need any additional logs or if there are any further tests you’d like me to perform.

Thank you.

Hey @Phanindranath_Nandan,

Thanks for sending those over, the logs told us exactly what’s happening.

The “Lost control of the audio device” message lines up with a device reset reported by the Yamaha Steinberg USB ASIO driver. In every instance, the sequence is the same: Roon opens the device and sets the sample rate, and about a second later the driver resets the connection, which drops the endpoint. That’s also why it only happens when you manually change albums or play for the first time in a day, Roon releases the device after a few seconds of silence, so starting a new album re-opens it from scratch and triggers the reset. Continuous playback within an album keeps the device open, so it plays fine.

A couple of things are contributing, and there are some steps that should help:

  1. Increase the Resync Delay. Your device is currently set to a very short resync delay, which isn’t giving the Yamaha enough time to re-lock before Roon sends audio. Go to Settings → Audio → the gear icon next to the Yamaha zone → Device Setup → Show Advanced, and set Resync Delay to 3–5 seconds. Then try changing albums a few times. This is the most important step.
  2. Remove the duplicate zone. The R-N800A is currently set up twice — once as the ASIO device (“MY YAMAHA ASIO”) and once as a WASAPI device (“Yamaha USB DAC” / “MY YAMAHA USB”). Having both enabled can cause the two to fight over the same USB hardware. Please disable the WASAPI one and keep only the ASIO zone.
  3. Update the Yamaha Steinberg USB driver to the latest version from Yamaha’s site, then reboot. The reset originates at the driver level, so a current driver matters here.
  4. Turn off power saving on the USB connection. In Windows Device Manager, find the Yamaha under audio/USB devices, open Properties → Power Management, and uncheck “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.” If the R-N800A has an auto-standby setting, disabling that as well is worth trying — this is likely tied to the first-play-of-the-day failures.

I’d start with the Resync Delay change and the duplicate zone, since those are the two most likely to resolve it on their own. Let us know how it goes and we’ll take the next look if needed.

Thank you very much for your prompt response and for taking the time to analyse the logs so thoroughly.

Your explanation made perfect sense, and I really appreciate the clear guidance you provided. I increased the Resync Delay to 3000 ms as suggested, and I’m pleased to confirm that the issue now appears to be resolved. I’ve tested changing between multiple albums several times, and playback starts correctly every time without any “Lost control of the audio device” errors.

I truly appreciate the excellent support and the detailed analysis of the logs. It’s refreshing to receive such a quick and accurate diagnosis, which helped resolve an issue I’d been trying to understand for quite some time.

Thank you once again for your outstanding support.
