I like this! I have a number of Mathmos lamps in my listening spaces.

Let me start with this piece that I bought in the Year of the Rabbit in 2011. It no longer adorns my listening room after I moved my oversized display cabinet to the utility room.

I will post other pieces another time.

More info on it is here:

I bought this before Y2K. It wasn’t an item for sale in a Swiss Watches store in Cambridge, MA. I asked the store if I could buy it, which was displayed on the counter, and I was told it’s from the store owner’s personal collection, and the rest is history.

Now, this info is also new to me and appears to be credible (based on item 3 below), as I want to find out its history for this post. I took this photo and uploaded it to Google, and got this answer:

This is a vintage Murano abstract glass sculpture by Renato Anatra.

  1. The sculpture is made of clear glass on an oval frosted glass base.
  2. It is approximately 25 inches tall.
  3. The artist’s signature is on the base.
  4. The sculpture is also known as a “Love Knot”.

At so many levels, that is ultra cool, unique and impressive. Glad that you are the proud owner. Now, If something should happen to you…

The hare in Inside No. 9 is a recurring easter egg, a cold-cast bronze sculpture by artist Paul Jenkins, that appears in every episode of the show, often in a hard-to-find location.

A great piece. Listening room art is rewarding and can, of course, be a great investment.

Do you have a history on this piece?

I bought it at the Boston MFA store in the mid-1990s.
