I loved my OM4. To this day I regret selling it as I did in order to finance the purchase of a Canon 300D

Hovering or not, that’s a great shot!

Of course, in this day and age, photographing jets is just so much easier:

  • Auto focus does much of the heavy lifting
  • Much higher shutter speeds are achievable because of the availability of ‘exotic’ ISO sensitivities.

It was (and still is) a very different proposition with manual focus film cameras and, practically speaking, being limited to a maximum of 400 ISO (yes I know 1000 and even 1600 ISO film became available in the 80’s and 90’s - but you didn’t want to use it unless you absolutely had to).

I used Fuji 100 for prints then moved to Reala the colours were better. I very occasionally used 400 but rarely.

For trannies Fujichrome 50 or 100

I used provia most for slides. I find this film also great for scanning

Provia 100f

I was into Nikon bodies then. Right upto the F100. After going digital I sold all except the F3

Hi Abdo, I really like the nature photographs on your website but it took a few minutes to get there as there’s an error in the hyperlink (in your preferences).

The web address is “abdoabdala.com:8080” so you need to remove “:8080” as in it’s current form the server times out.

All the best…

Thanks for letting me know, but the link doesn’t have 8080, it’s like www.abdoabdala.com, maybe it’s something between Roon and Adobe Portfolio, where my site is hosted. When registering the domain, I have to connect to Adobe for it to work. If I type outside of Roon, it works normally. But I’ll try to find out if there’s something else that Roon is doing that’s taking so long to open the site, clicking through Roon is really slow. Thanks.

I suspect that Discourse (Roon community software) may guilty of appending the web address (IOS & Windows produce the same effect with different browsers). If i click or copy the address and check it the “:8080” is appended?

There seems to be something funny going on with the hosting.

Earlier today, when @PixelPopper first raised the ‘broken link’ issue, I tried http://www.abdoabdala.com and it worked fine. However, trying it now, I get the timeout message.

Note: I have just tried multiple browsers and I tried typing the url in manually rather than just relying on the link from the Roon forums. It made no difference.

If I use ping from the command line, I get an immediate response with the ip address and ping works fine so DNS looks OK.

yes it is something that Roon is lost trying to play the site. I have already tried www … with http … https … etc none of the modes work. I believe it is something in Roon, because when I entered this information more than 2 months ago, everything worked fine.

after the link times out, check the address and you’ll likely see it’s be appended with the port number, i.e 8080, remove that and connection is instant…

That link’s not working @abdoabdala

We’re not happy
