Long time music fan but only in the last 5 years or so have I been bitten by the ‘audiofool’ bug. I have invested heavily in hi end hi-fi gear but got tired of changing CD’s manually, though changing sides on vinyl doesn’t bother me. Must be my age, a wild child of the 60s and 70s!! Anyway, I tried plenty of of free or cheap software solutions but none were any good. A friend suggested Roon and at that price, no way. Then I figured if my hi-fi store use it (and recommend it) and I spend many thousands of dollars on gear, what was a few hundred dollars? My only regret is I only paid for twelve months and not the lifetime licence (if roon cares to prorata back and charge me a lifetime fee please do, I’m in). One observation is the trial version doesn’t do the full product justice, it is very good, and I love the very latest version, fantastic layout and great features. Nothing is perfect, but Roon is far and away the best solution I have tried and I have tried many. Great stuff Roon.
Personally I listen to many genres, especially, Rock/pop, Progressive Rock, Jazz, Blues, Classical, Zydeco, Cajun and World Music. Sorry Rap and Metal, not my cup of tea but each to his own. I still love the sound of vinyl but find digital played on great great with Roon digs much deeper into the files and extracts more the of the sound the Artist wanted us to hear.
