Accessibility for blind and visually impaired people

I believe I just voted for this, but would appreciate confirmation from any one of you: all of whom seem to have vastly more digital literacy than me  Though I get the gist of the conundrum.

My motive in joining this topic is simply a desire to share the benefits of Roon with as many music lovers as possible. Roon has elevated my exposure to and enjoyment of music quite remarkably, and far more than any piece of gear I’ve ever purchased.

BTW I believe we all have disabilities

Hi, I am blind and use screen reading software to operate my phone and computer.

I use Voice Over on Mac and IOS, but the Roon apps are not accessible using Voice Over. None of the elements within the IOS app, or Mac app are accessible.

just started a trial this morning and I would like to get the 1 dollar charged on my card back.

I am a software engineer, so I am happy to help out with any accessibility feedback and improvements if this is an area of interest.

I would love to try Roon, but I cannot pay for something that is not accessible at all.

The Roon server installed without any issues on a Ubuntu VM I have, but that was all command based, so that had nothing to do with Roon.

I would love to use Roon to listen to my music, but if this is not an area of interest, or focus, can I please get my 1 dollar back?

Hi @zanty410,

Thank you very much for sharing your experience with Roon and detailing the reasons why it is not a good fit. We’re truly sorry that is the case, especially since accessibility features in the main Roon app poses such challenges for our team to build.

Some progress has been made with Roon ARC in this area, however, Roon ARC functions only in conjunction with Roon.

As for the $1 charge you’re seeing on your bank statement, that is simply an authorization to verify that the card is valid and that the bank will allow it to be authorized. This is a temporary charge and it will disappear from your bank statement in a few days.

You have an active free trial on your account still. If you don’t plan on continuing with Roon, please make sure to navigate to your account page and cancel the trial to avoid being charged for a subscription to a service that cannot meet your needs (as things stand now).

If you need a hand with this, please, let us know and we’ll cancel your trial on our end.
