If you do a math he plays 5 weeks of music in last 4 weeeks. It is really a lot

I have an end point the works 24/7 in the family living room (controlled by my kids under my watch:), another in my studio maybe 8 - 10 hours a day. And I like/have to cook/wash dishes etc maybe 2 hours a day in the kitchen. It is adding up. I think past 3 end points it is not counting anymore (but I’m not sure if I remember correctly). I had 5 working, the ones described plus 1 for each girl. But Spotify with bluetooth JBL is easier for them

At this point folks are probably bored with hearing people’s complaints about Roon, but my reservation with going lifetime (and with tech in general) is simply reliability. I’ve been using Roon for three years now and while lots of new features have been added, for me it’s no more reliable now than it was then, even though I’ve hard-wired everything to the router. I guess my question is, will Roon ever be as reliable as a CD player? Or is unreliability something you just have to accept as a non-specialist tech user?

I opened up Roon Remote on my iPad this morning and it just wouldn’t connect to the Core. Sure I could open a Support ticket but what’s the point? It worked yesterday, and I’m sure it’ll work again in a couple of hours. [Edit: it did.] But if something doesn’t work when you want it to it’s not reliable. I don’t like opening up Roon Remote with my mental fingers crossed.

I’m sometimes puzzled by the high tolerance other people have for lack of reliability, and I’m not just talking about Roon. (On my laptop, when I get a new email, sometimes I get the ping notification and sometimes I don’t and while others shrug it off it drives me mad!) I’m sure the tech-minded people don’t mind it - it just lets them open up the hood and tinker around which they seem to enjoy. But it makes me want to throw the whole thing in and just go back to CDs, which play 100% of the time.

I’m far from a technical person. My daily job is being a forklift driver working for a big European truck manufacturing company.

Apart from getting ARC to run, which I was able to solve with a little help from the community, Roon runs flawlessly here. And it has done so for the past 1,5 years.

So for me it was a logical conclusion to grab lifetime before the current prices are going up tomorrow.
But of course, YMMV, when it comes to your personal experiences with Roon.

That’s exactly what I’ve done. :smirk::+1:t2:

If I were in your shoes, I would not go lifetime. You must have tons of stored resentments against Roon if your anger already lasts 3 years. Just play CD’s and be happy. Life is too short for constant grievances.

Well - one more lifetime subscriber added

I was also a little in doubt (hence I ended i this thread), but it just makes sense to commit, like I have with a couple of other pieces of software in my life with similar payment models.

In the end, committing helps me commit  - meaning I now for sure know this is my music platform for a very long time, which will motivate me even more to invest my time in setup, optimisation and use. So the lifetime purchase ends up in being a positive reinforcement that gives me more value…

Happy New Year everyone - lifetime or not

Just went for lifetime as Roon has been absolutely solid for me for 3 years now and even as a professional musician it has introduced me to some wonderful music across numerous genres.

Cheers Roon and Happy New Year to you all. I’m in 2023 now and the music sounds even better :+1::musical_note:

See you next year… Sounds like a little time traveling thingy. Still just over 8 hours left here in 2022.

Roon has been super reliable for me and I use it with HQPlayer which certainly adds to the complexity of the system. I have four zones too. I always reads these posts complaining about Roon reliability with amazement because I just don’t have these negative experiences…

I’ve been a Roon lifer since August 2017…

I’ve been following this thread for a while out of interest. Now is the time to do it guys, this option may not exist forever.

Roon listen to their user base and improve all the time.

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again: how much do you spend on other aspects of your system? $700 is dirt cheap compared to any other component of my system. Do it. Only a few hours left!

New to Roon and liking it. Have been back and forth over this decision since signing up for the trial. Pulled the trigger today. Still shaking a bit. Lol. Worked out to $974 Canadian in the end. :flushed::cry:. You guys state side have it easy.

Congrats (and welcome to the forums)! After a lot of backwards and forwards, I decided to stay annual - I just couldn’t bring myself to shell out the almost 1k Canadian pesos, particularly as I’ve a few AV gear upgrades in the pipeline.

I also stayed on yearly. I did not have the cash for it in the last months and did not want to go on credit.

The exchange rate is a killer right now - US$, GBP, Euro, all absolutely horrible for us.

In Romania we had some ok rates before Christmas but now are blowing high again.
