Bye Roon, why I am not renewing my subscription

there’s just no way I’d invest any time in updating individual tracks or albums within an app like Roon

I posted my concerns about this a long, long time ago:

I’ve decided to use dramatic titles to get more attention. Since I’ve started using Roon, I’ve had no problems spending enjoyable time configuring Roon to my network topography and in adapting my network to Roon. Indeed I built a new computer to serve as the core. At 2 houses. But I’ve felt funny about grooming my media collection to work with Roon – a little queasy doing things like choosing the preferred release version, identifying albums, applying tags, and otherwise grooming th…

Not that Roon hasn’t made great strides in many areas. But Roon remains an information silo for true curators - no custom file-embedded metadata in or out.

This frustrates me because work has to be duplicated. We know that these custom tags are in the Roon database - you can see them in track properties - and it just wouldn’t be that hard to make Roon capable of focusing on them.

Love Roon, this is my biggest frustration with it.
