Can’t believe I only now discovered this Roon hack.
Separating server from remote makes sense, even on the same machine!
Here a couple of years later in 2020 and I’m wondering does this still provide potential sound improvement? I’ve been running Roon all in one on my Mac and it sounds great although I have the Chord M Scaler which does really great with cleaning up the incoming USB, galvanically isolated, optimized, etc.
I can however install the Roon Server app on my Mac and use my iPhone or iPad as the UI.
Should I?
Edit: I tried it and heard no improvement. I imagine the current Roon app is well optimized such that you can run it all in one these days.
