Do you consider yourself an “audiophile”?

Really, everyone (here) is an AP even the ones that say the aren’t. Being there is no definition and or the definition differs from individual to individual (significantly in many cases) its pretty difficult to categorize IMHO.

Even within trying to define or categorize what is an AP, there are so many layers as evident in this thread. To some the “process” is really simple to others its very involved. It is an interesting read for sure.

I suppose it’s kinda like a cable discussion

I suppose I’m a music lover with audiophile tendencies. I don’t have to have the best or even great gear to enjoy music but I’m always appreciative when I get to upgrade to better gear.

Perhaps I’m just audiophile curious. I do, rightly or wrongly, associate audiophileism with expensive gear that I could never afford. I would love to experience this gear though.

Now on the third hand, if just being interested in the recorded music world, wanting to learn how to make the best of my resources to come up with my best audio experience could somehow deem me an audiophile I’ll own that. The more you think about it the less real-world meaning the word has.

Are you an audiophile if the equipment upgrade bug has left you? When you know the music you enjoy sounds as good as it’s going to in the space you have and you are happy about that.

Happily, that’s where I am now, it took a while but enjoyed the journey through the Meridian eco system…

There’s nothing that can’t be improved on, if not today then tomorrow. Despite that I am still pretty happy (well, almost, FedEx failed to deliver my EtherRegen today because they didn’t have the door code - although I ordered it more to satisfy my curiosity than any deep rooted need to improve my SQ). However the equipment upgrade bug is just dormant, it hasn’t left me. For me, it’s not so much a question of “as good as it’s going to get”, more “right now improving it is not a priority”.

I am 5 and 6. Haha.

Yep, I vote for neither as well.
Who wants to hear covers from people that died 200 years ago?
But I get your point, which is very keen. In my case, I freeze and am unable to decide. Alas that must make me an audiophile…
