I was just about to praise Arc here when I had another two breakdowns on the way home from the office today. But before that, everything was fine for weeks.
I use ARC Daily and if I remember correctly I took lifetime package because of ARC coming,
Yes its buggy
Yes it’s sometimes loading ssssslow
Yes it’s sometimes sucks
It’s have lots of things that I don’t need for every day since im listing music at work with hands dig in clay
Radio of artis don’t work for me
I missing crossfade with time adjustment like in roon
Music played in roon its not passed to ARC which is very confusing to me because some of it its passed
If I like one song from album I can’t see rest of the album or maybe I do something wrong but I really try hard
I think that’s most of my issues with ARC but in the end of the day I love it and I hope it will get better.
I’ve just closed the poll which is a snapshot of ARC’s use by Roon users who frequent the forum in February 2023.
The results have remained quite consistent over the past few days:
So 3 in 5 Roon users use Arc, with the vast majority of these using it fairly regularly.
Of the 2 in 5 that don’t use ARC 50% would use it if they could
So 1 in 5 users of Roon have no particular interest in using ARC currently, so it’s clear that the concept of ARC is very popular with 80% Roon users with 20% having trouble getting it to work.
I think we can pronounce ARC a qualified success for Roon users.

That is a really loose interpretation of this data. If you include the “No” votes along with the ones who say they can’t use it in the current state and those who say they “would” use it if it worked then over half of ARC users are having problems and you shouldn’t be calling ARC a success yet (even a qualified success).
I’m pretty sure that the majority of people having problems with Roon ARC are on IPv6. If consider that 45% of the worlds Internet traffic is IPv6 now and that the types of people willing to install the expensive equipment required for Roon are more likely to have IPv6, then Harmon/Roon needs to fix Roon ARC’s issues with IPv6.
I think you may be misunderstanding the 2 different polls, the “ the ones who say they can’t use it in the current state” are a subset of the “No” votes - they can’t be added together.

That’s a pretty loose interpretation too. Who says no, has a problem? And who says they are not interested like it is now, also has a problem?
Maybe the no-sayers simply aren’t interested in listening to music outdoors? And maybe the second group is happy with another way of listening to music?
Ok, I see.
Can you provide an update on the fix for the IPv6 leading zero format bug?
Unfortunately not I’m just a regular Roon user like you currently listening to Siouxsie and the Banshees debut at home on my main system

Hey, I haven’t listened to Siouxsie Sue for some time, I’ll have to put her on my list. Currently listening to Caligula’s Horse - Charcoal Grace, one of the best releases of the year IMHO.
Have a great day,
D
No I don’t use it. It hasn’t been reliable, so I use PlexAmp when I’m traveling.
That’s why there was the secondary poll
Just downloaded the ARC app from Android Playstore and as usual, it does not launch. This is on a Samsung S23 running Android ver 14. Cmon Roon this is unacceptable.
Does your Playstore already have the latest ARC update? Note that there was a fix for a launch issue in the update from today:
I rarely use ARC. Actually only to check if I already have the album when browsing for second hand CDs.
Reasons:
In my old mobile phone contract I had a limited data volume and downloading music from the server to the phone was not satisfactory. But even with my new contract with unlimited data, I don’t see much use in ARC: when I listen to music on the go, it’s on the subway and trains … and I can predict the dead spots very accurately.
Oh yes: I also like to switch off my server from time to time; I don’t see any point in letting it consume power 24/7.
Yes, I use ARC almost every day. It will give me high-res files more often than Qobuz alone plus I get access to my files. Yes, ARC is a little glitchy, but it has to connect through my network’s security system. I have figured out ways to deal with it and keep my network happy.
I didn’t for quite a while as wasn’t able to get it to connect for some reason and was over my computer knowledge or desire to really buckle down and figure it out. However, I tried again recently and it worked fine and continues to work fine. Now that it seems to be working I have been using quite a bit and multiple times a week while out and about/driving, etc.
Nice to have the one place working with not only access to the Tidal albums but then all non Tidal albums while out and about as well.
Yes, yes and yes. I haven’t completely given up on Roon /Arc, but all the problems you described pushed me to experiment with Plex/PlexAmp and wow, like you said, it’s fast, reliable and feature rich. Roon has some catching up to do IMHO.
Except Plexamp never chokes while ARC constantly does. After experimenting, I have come to the conclusion ARC’s “Poor Connection” error is not a poor connection error.
I use ARC every day. It makes the Roon experience for me. I am lucky to have a job that allows me to have a headphone stack and can listen to music for around 7 hours a day. To be able to stream my large local file collection is absolutely priceless, and it is speedier than my Roon system at home. On the weekends when I hop in my car, my ARC instantly connect with my car and I play a shuffle driving through town. Perfect.
There were early slowness, but it is all worked out now.
