I have Yamaha RX-A3080 with 7.1.4 setting that can playback DSD7.1 directly over HDMI input. I have Pioneer UDP-LX800 universal disk player that can output 5.1 channel area of multichannel SACD over HDMI to RX-A3080 with direct DSD mode. So there’s no problem for me to play back multichannel SACD contents but when it comes to playing multichannel DSD File which are sold also in several music file download sites such as https://www.nativedsd.com/ or https://www.e-onkyo.com, or those file that’s downloadable from some of the Bluray disk (m-shuttle feature ) via BD player over the ethernet, there’s few system setup that is capable to playback Mch DSD file without conversion to PCM. I have such Mch DSD files in DLNA server and I got ROCK server on Intel NUC connected to my Yamaha RX-A3080 over HDMI. When i convert the HDMI output to PCM, it plays Mch PCM fine but when i set it to DSD (Native or DoP), RX-A3080 doesn’t seem to be able to understand. It’s almost there. And many DENON, Marantz or Yamaha AV amplifier can play back native Mch DSD from universal player over HDMI, if Rock server or Raspberry Pi based Roon bridge with HDMI output can output the compatible Mch DSD signal for those types of AV amps, it would be really great.
