There was an update for the downloader for me.
I was able to download as .DSF files with this update without issue

unfortunately they have some selective, incomprehensible policy. In Eastern Europe they are not available in some countriesā€¦including mine.

How can one tell the provenance of the DSD downloads? Roon rarely provides that kind of information.

You canā€™t directly, but Qobuz gives you a bit information about the label created the SACD and the you can start searchingā€¦

As a rule, I often didnā€™t get very far. The major labels are very reluctant to reveal the sources.

When analyzing the files, it turns out that quite a few SACDs and the DSD and PCM HighRes versions derived from them for download from the period between 2010 and 2015 are simply transferred or upscaled CD masters.

Qobuz used to have a support address when there were anomalies with the downloaded files (support-help@qobuz.com) and I usually received a compensation for justified complaints.

Today there is no longer any information on the homepage for complaints and emails to the old address come to nothing.

Simply poor!

I suspect that the only channel left is via the Chat service. I have to say that the few issues I have had have all been resolved via Chat.

The Steve Hoffman forum has a discussion of these SACDs. No one really knows. Some think these are the Acoustic Sounds SACDs, while others think these might be the tower japan transfers.
