Fiio M11Plus ESS and M11S with Roon Ready is fanatasic!

Any for the previous versions will fit I believe.

M11 Pro cases don’t fit.

As far as I know, there hasn’t been a silicone case for the M11 Plus, though there is one for the M11 Pro. There’s a “Soft TPU” case you can buy on Amazon in the US, though I tried it and didn’t love it.

These folks also make one and people seem to love their cases:

Hope that helps.

Just curious, since these Fiio devices have 2-way LDAC, is it possible to send LDAC to an LDAC-capable Sony Cardeck via ARC?

ARC will not downsample in this case, would it?

Yes it would work done it myself to another LDAC device to test it out it’s bypassing Android audio and hands over to the Bluetooth stack in this case. But it’s lossy so you’re really not gaining anything over it being downsampled so why bother.

Should I set Roon settings to “Renderer Only”? It seems to provide a better resolution when i do that than when i set it to “Renderer and Decoder”

What do you mean by resolution here? If your not applying any DSP via Roon leave is as Decoder and Renderer the M11 Plus will handle all MQA decoding and rendering as it a full decoder.

Ok. I set the FiiO to renderer and decoder and turned the MQA decoder in Roon to “off” Here is what i am getting from roon (screen shot)

On the FiiO Roon Ready App i get PCM/48kHz/32bit

Am I doing this correctly to maximize sound quality? Note: I am using bluetooth (LDAC) because I can’t find my cable.

LDAC is lossy Bluetooth and is fixed as that rate so will upsample by the operating system as you can see it’s after the Roon symbol which means it’s a system thing not Roon. This is how Bluetooth works it’s not using the fiios dac at all. You can’t get MQA decoding via Bluetooth. If you have it set as renderer only and Roons MQA decoder, then Roon will do the first decode to 96/24 but your going via Bluetooth so never get a full MQA decode and render and it’s a lossy codec.

Hi everyone, I’ve decided to sell my old Onkyo DAP and my stationary headphone amplifier - which I hardly ever use - and switch to a Roon Ready FiiO player. Now the question arises: M11 Plus, M11s or M15s… The M17 has been ruled out, it’s a bit too big and too heavy for me.

I’ve spent a few evenings reading and researching reports on this, is there a clear “definitely take this one” statement from anyone here?

For example, if the M15s beats the M11 Plus in terms of sound, then that would be a clear thing, but what is the difference between the M11 Plus and the M11s?

I would be delighted if anyone would like to comment on this.

Different DAC in the plus and it has THX headphone amp section.

You can’t go wrong with the Plus. I believe the M23 will be its direct replacement but it’s not out yet.

I got my FiiO M11 Plus LTD yesterday. It’s a used device but in a very good condition. Now I have a lot of things to try. Started with Roon Ready mode and it is working fine. :slightly_smiling_face:

BTW sold my Matrix Audio mini-i Pro 3 now that I have the FiiO. I prefer the mobility and the device sounds so, so good no matter which phones I use with it. Very, very happy with the little (big and heavy  ) FiiO device.

I did the same sold most of my other headphone gear and repurposed my RME for speaker use in my office setup. It’s a great device. Will look to get some new closed backs at some point.

The FiiO’s are absolutely astounding IMO. I have both the R7 and the M17 and they’re both peerless :star_struck:

Slightly off topic, but how does the M11 plus perform with Plexamp using the SD card as storage please? Anyone with experience?
