After restart it is down to 1.1 GB. 
I will keep an eye on this.
Here is what I see in Activity Monitor on my M1 Mac mini running Roon Server and HQPlayer Desktop when I have one zone playing through HQPlayer Desktop to an NAA, another zone playing through an iMac to speakers plugged in the headphone port, and my iPhone using Roon ARC over a cellular connection using VPN:
This is with ~1100 albums and the system running for several days.
