Giving up Roon

I also have Sonos devices. Not from the Era range nor a Move 2, but when others have had so much trouble with their Sonos devices in use with Roon, I have had none. Bizarre to say the least.

My Sonos speakers stopped working with Roon last October and still don’t work.

Roon recommended you add them to your Apple Home app, but you wrote

I do not want them in my Home app, as they serve no purpose there for me and will just further clutter the Home app. These speakers worked fine without being in the Home before the Roon update that broke them.

You then complained in multiple other threads about Roon not fixing the issue, but they cannot add your Sonos devices to your Apple Home app for you.

When Roon moved to AirPlay 2 support, I’m guessing they had to follow stricter rules set by Apple. My Sonos devices are added to my Home app but I also only use Roon via the Sonos Streaming Protocol with my Sonos devices.

I posted about a problem with metadata that Roon was getting wrong. They moved it to the support forum. It got locked and still is not fixed months later.

Songs on album labeled "re-recorded"

It is not a cover, but the original Metallica album. Roon was not identifying it as a cover band, everything was correct, from the band name to album art, just the songs were all labeled as “re-recorded”. I took @tripleCrotchet’s advice and changed the album version to version 2 and that got rid of it. Thank you for the help.
