How do people typically mark artists/albums for future exploration?

I’m all for a slower development cycle. Since you switched it up things have not been as smooth from my experience.

You don’t need to favor a new album in Roon to add it to your Roon library. I don’t think it will affect your listening history until/unless you listen to it. At that point, I suppose it will to some small degree.

If I was dealing with individual tracks instead of complete albums, I would probably use the playlist method.

I was under the impression that favoriting a song tells Roon “hey I like this song, bring me more music like this”. So I’m pretty vehement in the way I make sure to let Roon know what I like. Roon’s algorithm is the best I have experienced. It’s often so good that I just leave Roon Radio playing to hear where it takes me. All this time I was thinking this is because I take the time to favourite the music I like.

I think we’re talking about different things. I’m just saying you don’t need to favor an album in Roon to add it to your library. I have almost 5000 albums in my Roon library and have never favored one of them.

My Roon Radio seems to follow what I listen to.

Yes we were talking around each other then. Thanks for clarifying! I responded to the earlier suggestion in the thread to favorite tracks for exploration (regardless of whether they are added to the library) because I was (and still am) under the impression that favoriting tracks tells Roon what music you like, which feeds Roon’s algorithm to personalize your Roon experience.

I’m all for a slower release cycle to.

If it gives Roon more time to dot the i’s and cross the t’s and conduct thorough QC in house, then I’m all for that. Find and fix known long standing issues.

Make Roon new user proof.

I also think early access should be a closed program to a select number on an invitation basis.

While new features are wanted by some, they’re not for everyone. I think introducing features with an opt in or means to disable features unwanted is a must.

You can do this with non favorited albums?

We need to get the terminology clear:

  • The album must be in the Roon library
  • The album does NOT have to be favorited :purple_heart: in Roon
  • Being in the Roon library is equivalent to being favorited in the Tidal/Qobuz app, but this is different from being a favorite in Roon

You should be able to add tags to any album, regardless of whether it is a favorite or not, but the album must be in your library.

Roon use to have a longer release cycle and people complained. Some years ago they started releasing updates much more frequently and people complained. Roon simply can’t win.

I’ve not noticed a difference in stability/introduced bugs between the longer release cycle and the shorter release cycle.

Please can the @moderators break these posts out into another thread.

FWIW, I blame @brian for going off topic :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I think it’s a valid discussion point.

An option maybe for users to select update cycle periods.

@Saturn94 it’s an odd beast this Roon. For a good while I was issue free, then a few minor niggles crept in.

I just feel that if Roon’s dev team is small, are they best working on bigger things rather than smaller things.

A Roon roadmap would be good.

I suggest that you start the discussion in a new Topic thread…

Appreciate the info. Hopefully this remains a goal going forward, as you can see, appears plenty of need amongst the user base. I’m surprised it isn’t a higher priority, but if it’s taking a back seat to having actual functional Profiles (please please, my gf listens to Chris brown ugh), I’m happy to be patient
