I suspect that the percentage of Roon users in that category would have a zero to the left of the decimal point. Roon would know.

Fan: Insread of subjective impressions (that wil differ in every room), why not just tell us how much noise in db the fan makes.
I think you should publish more technical specs, such as the CPU, and other specs that are usually published with PCs.
Well they sold the Nucleus+ for that size at half the price of the Titan. True, it’s probably a small percentage overall (though seems like half of the forum posts), but they do sell the Titan which should be suitable for even larger libraries
Very very unlikely - it wasn’t the case with the previous Nucleus models, they just had HDMI audio out…
There are specs on the info page and you find the outputs there

Awesome, this is what I will get when my ROCK setup dies! Will it be available in Scandinavia?
So no “direct” signal outputs? Only by network connection? Unless you can use the USB out as a music stream. I’m convinced having my roon server software in a PC configuration connected through a SOTM usb card to my Lyngdorf is an improvement over anything over a network. And yes… I understand anything coming from Tidal, Qobuz etc is coming over a network. But nothing on the local HD, which is my most highly utilized signal path.
HDMI (audio) and USB outs
Nice the see a more budget friendly option.
Definitely, this is much more realistically priced & affordable for a lot of people. I would still go the NUC route if I needed a new server personally but this is a viable option for someone who just wants to add a drive & be up & running.
Apple does not reveal that your iPhone comes with a specifically Samsung or LG manufactured OLED panel. As long as the display meets Apple’s calibrated specs, that is what matters.
Similarly, Roon intentionally leaves out some specs. Or so I assume. Because Roon instead focuses on end user performance measured in music library size. This way, Roon also reserves the right to make hardware revisions behind the scenes without changing the published specs.

I have a NUC in an Akasa case. Would not swap it for this product. The Akasa is great, no fan, no overheating and no dust inside.
There was a thread somewhere or a feature request for this very thing. Roon on a Pi would be great.
My bad. What a bummer!
I2S comes in different flavors. My understanding is that the most common configuration is one where the clock is the source - I2S is different from SPDIF in that it has a separate clock line which supposedly makes clock recovery at the DAC better.
But there’s also a flavor where the clock is the DAC and it send this clock back to the I2S-connected source to clock the source. This in most cases is the better setup as you can have a great DAC with a great low-phase-noise clock that clocks the whole system.
Having said all this I doubt this is what the HDMI port is for. In all likelihood it is just for multichannel playback to a multichannel DAC or receiver.
Nice to see.
I wouldn’t call $499 all that affordable, but if it works out of the box then there is a clear hook to get people into Roon software goodness.
As does a 60-day trial.
With that said, my USB-A DAC would play nicely with this device (as it does with the laptop). So, say, $700 and $150 per annum for managing this modest FLAC library. $132 p.a. for a streamer. Audio kit (I’m in the $1K market). Yes, it’s relative. My laptop was double the One’s cost, but I think I could push beyond 100K tracks, and it handles my other computing.
I think it’s a hobbyist thing, but I’m hopeful it will grow Roon.
Edit: forgot the 2.5” drive : ~ $100 I s’pose.
Thanks. Missed that. Seems like a very good hardware offering.
So I guess the One and the Titan are the only Roon cores now?
So far, but like this one appeared out of thin air, another one to fill the gap between them might appear as well, or not. As discussed above, IMHO the gap is too big.
Wow. This looks great. Nice to see Roon bring this out a really good price point. Cheers!
