iPad Pro as remote, any benefit over Air?

I went from a iPad Air M1 (since it was in the return 30 day period) and upgraded to the iPad Pro M2 11". (it was on sale at amazon Italy for 820 euros instead of 1060-1090 euro)

As Roon remote it doesn’t really matter much if u ask me. but if you are going to use the iPad for other stuff (Netflix etc, connecting a external monitor to it, or using it as a desktop replacement) its worth it to go with the pro. the I paid only about 120 euros more for the pro and it has 120 hz, better sound quality, that new Apple Pencil hover feature, better camera , and the iPad Air had 64gb storage and the pro has 128gb.

To iPad Roon Remote users…

Have a question regarding changing the upsampling settings thru Roon Remote on my 12.9” iPad Pro (connects to the Roon Core on my M1 MacMini): why the upsampling setting is greyed out?

Since the iPad will always resample everything to 48 kHz, Roon does this automatically.

This doesn’t affect USB DACs connected via USB (Lightning connector.)

iPads have usb C ports for a while now :slight_smile:

From the looks of it, you’re playing to a pair of HomePods over AirPlay – limiting your output to 44.1khz. As Roon autoresamples to that rate to be able to play, there’s nothing to configure in this scenario.

Which is why I said USB with lightning connector in brackets for those using older model. :man_facepalming: :slight_smile:

Thanks MJW, I did not notice the iPad room mobile app is actually doing more than a remote control.
