Took advantage of the Qobuz download fest yesterday. Adding 24 new albums to the library. Filling some gaps, some new releases and adding new some artists. Kicked of this morning with:
Been listening to Oliver Hardys truly exquisite rendition of Lazy Moon. Have you ever heard a sweeter, purer voice than Ollies. He sings unaccompanied and its beautiful. Ollie was an exceptional singing talent as well as being as supreme comedian.
Some Joel Ross now. I am rather partial to spiritual Jazz. Thanks to artists like Mathew Halsall the genre is really flying(as spirits do) now.
Joel Ross is really so elegiac and ethereal in his approach.
Who are you? is a great advert for the genre.
Highly recommended.
Already on my second extended timeout of the day.
Back from walking dogs and heading out to football for the afternoon.
Had three good albums this morning already
I got this on CD when it was released in 2007. The CD is happily stored away in my “CD archive collection”, where it shall ever remain.
I have had this for a few decades and yes its essential. You may want to check out the first two Butterfield Blues Band albums. Different style but its Mike Bloomfield at full tilt.
Also if you haven’t already then check out Manassas. Thats Stevie Stills at full tilt
An Invisible World Revealed here by Krokodil. Krautrock bands never came finer than Krokodil.
Superb psych/krautrock. Very psychedelic at times with sitar aplenty
Now if there’ were a Moderators Perk option, without having to Wade through all the associated then I would be in
If you get in on your 13th resubmission and pass the tough interview process then enjoy the extra
In positive news I have had two deliveries of pre loved CDs this morning that will be ripped this evening
Now I am caught between them sitting in front of him and hitting him as part of the interview process.
That has improved the imagery massively
Apologies for the confusion. The album’s great. My CDs are boxed away because I don’t physically use them. They’re all ripped and ready to go.
Oh no…we use thumbscrews nowadays.
On to Rocksession by Embryo now. I am very selective of embryo albums as they can get lost when they try too hard not to be likeable. They succeed quite a lot and made some awful albums.
Embryo were either very good or very bad with no middle ground.
At least theres one good side to the album.
