So emotional!
Murray Perahia. What a piano genius!
I can credit his very early Beethoven Sonata cycle as being fundamental in getting me into classical music in the first place.
British heavy bluesrock band, based in Cardiff, Wales, formed in 1968 as a blues band Spoonfull. In 1970 the band changed its name to Universe. In 1971 they were touring in Norway, where they recorded and released their only album Universe (1971) as 300 copies and only a small part was sold with the official album cover. In Britain they did many college gigs supporting Yes, Fleetwood Mac, Rory Gallagher, Jethro Tull, Chicken Shack, Man, Black Sabbath and many other early 1970s bands. They eventually disbanded in 1972.

What a band! The Final Countdown
Probably a question for a different thread? Maybe the Classical Discussion thread. But do you think Lang Lang is overrated?
He’s undoubtedly ubiquitous, but is there really any talent there?
If it wasn’t the year I was born I might have been able to have a pint with them down the pub
I don’t know. This is my first time hearing Lang Lang.
I saw your post listening to Beethoven, and I searched that to see what Roon came up with and this is what I picked. So far, he plays very well to me. I’m no Classical connoisseur though.
Got a whole bunch of Billy Joel today.
I find Lang Lang more of a ‘showman’ than a pianist? I think the same applies to his contemporary Yuja Wang.
Don’t get me wrong. They’re not ‘bad’ pianists? They’re more than competent. They just lack the ‘genius’ of legends such a Ashkenazy and Perahia (to name but a couple).
I think the very best new pianist to emerge in the last fifteen-years or is Yundi Li. His Prokofiev’s Second, with Ozawa & the BPO is absolutely definitive IMO
Just LOVE that album Peter!
