I see that, amongst others, the Intel NUC site lists the below drives as tested and approved for 5th generation. These aren’t SATA are they?

As this thread has gone quiet now, perhaps @support might be able to comment as to whether an M2 SSD would be recognised as storage if added in this instance, where ROCK already resides on a 2.5 SSD. Also, even if were, would it still be better to start from scratch with the OS on an M2 drive and a bigger 2.5 drive added for storage.
It may work, but you’d have to try. My guess is that it would work just fine.
It’s not a situation we expected to support.

I just resurrected this old thread to say that I added a Western Digital Blue 1TB M.2 SATA to the NUC5i5RYH and it was indeed recognised as storage.
Nice work. I have the same NUC as you albeit my storage is on an external USB drive. Hope you are enjoying it!
