New (was back in 2021) iFi Zen Stream device

It’s strange - it just stays forever the same like in the screenshot in the above posting. When I do a reload in the browser I get to see this in settings:

I will do another hard reset and try with the /dev beta and check again DNS.

Edit: yes it’s starting but stuck at 50% :frowning:

I think that if the update is starting then you will have DNS set up.
If you can get the beta then it should be fine

Are you running on WiFi or Ethernet?

Ethernet - I deactivated wifi in the Settings

Ok there were a lot of issues with this back in the early days as I mentioned earlier but not seen it in a long time.

How are you getting on with the /dev option?

You think I got a failed hardware device?
Just doing another reset and giving update in a minute. Thanks!

Generally I think it was a failure in the iFi software and infrastructure when it happened before. As when they introduced newer versions they were fine.

Well the /dev way worked finally!
Though going into ROON mode and starting Roon app there I find no device other than my smartphone

OK good news as a start at least it has updated.
Remember that Roon only mode goes to SPDIF as default , and you need to click on the Info button in the Audio Settings to switch it to USB.

Put it it into AIO mode first and get it all working and then switch it to Roon Only mode once you have everything working well.

I got SPDIF
Forgot that I have to activate it in the ROON settings first.
So finally there is music now.
Though one very critical thing is missing: room correction. The convolution filter is no longer there:

How can I reactivate / add it again?!

Ifi Corporate owes you stock options ZenMaster :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Right? He’s done a lot of lifting here for the device.
That said, I just bought a second as my rpi died a miserable death.

The Zen must provide great SQ for such a difficult setup process (for some).

Marcus good news.
You add them again in Roon and load them from the file.
They are endpoint specific so stick to the endpoint you add them too.
If you can find the files just add them in DSP and off you go.

Their firmware patching needs some smoothing out. Still nothing as bad as a HP ROMPaq. Once updated it works exceptionally well, has great visual queues to see what format is playing and once flashed Just Works ™.

My $0.02

Just waiting for my stock options to divest… though I have been watching We Crash and I am starting to get nervous

For the price it is very hard to beat, and these days most people do not have as many issues, but sadly it still happens.

Thank you so much for your outstanding support!! :star_struck:
Convolution filter also up and running

Any idea when the current beta will be also released as an official version?

Great news Markus

No idea sorry, this is the longest beta so far.
There is a good chance that this just becomes the next main version which they have done before.

I was going to suggest the beta option as well, but when I had that problem early on I changed my ZS’s DNS settings to Cloudflare (1.1.1.1, 1.0.0.1), but Google would also work just as well (8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4). I have no idea whether the device has its own DNS configuration when set to “auto”—but mine wasn’t playing well with my ISP. As soon as I set the custom settings, I never had a problem again.

Honestly, 2.31.8 fixes the MQA LED colors and I’m pretty sure nothing else. It’s perfectly stable—I don’t have a clue why they haven’t declared it as such all these months later.
