Nick Cave’s Wild God - Disappointing Production

Yes I know, it says so above, but crap is still crap whether it is intended crap or unintended crap.
This issue goes beyond this particular release, hence my reply, but as my replies carry no weight I’ll mute the thread.

Personally I don’t think this is badly produced. It’s a bit trebly for my tastes, but that’s not uncommon with Dave Fridmann’s involvement in a release.

The sound is awful and so are the songs that i listened to before i gave up. Sounds like he has run out of ideas.

Thanks for sharing a well considered review. Here are some others (I randomly selected.) Personally, speaking, I think it is one of the best albums of 2024, and is creative, emotionally charged, and leaves you feeling uplifted. But, hey, each to their own.

As you’ll see it is highly rated across the board (89/100 on metacritic.)

This interview article was brought to my attention. It addresses the specific issue of the mixing by Dave Fridmann, amongst many other things. It really is worth a read.

Did any of you get a chance to listen the album in Dolby Atmos ? If so, what did you think?

This is the very first time that I have returned an album for sound quality, not defects.
